Speedway

This weekend my home town became a place for some interesting kind of races - speedway. This is moto races on ice. This competition takes place every year on our local stadium and gathers all inhabitants to watch it with delight. The roar of motors, real veers promise a portion of adrenaline to everybody. You can join to the show and watch the photos inside.

The competition is devided into 24 heats so that every racer can competite with everyone of others. Four racers take part in every heat. Here they approach the place of start.
 
 

 
 

 

 

 It should be notised that the wheels of motorcycles are covered with long thorns. It is made for better connection with ice.

 

 


Racers line up at the start. A special person watches them to stand in line and the same person gives a signal for a race start.







So the racers stick their necks out. They fight for the first places in every heat. In the end of the heat they score points (the higher place gives the better point). Further all points are summarized and this shows the leader of the competition.
























Sometimes little accidents take place. This racers has something wrong with his moto. To evacuate him there is a special service group









Well, the competitions keeps going on


















Here are spectators. They come to support sportsmen though the weather is very cold now. Even fans from neighbouring Scandinavian countries came to us.
